It's Been Forever

Well I know I haven't posted in forever.  I have been super busy!  I took on 3 week old puppies and had to bottle feed them so that took a lot of my time, plus there hasn't been too much change in the cats.

We have decided to keep Purdy though.  My 2 year old is very attached to her and takes her everywhere he goes.  And she is very attached to him as well.  So that just leaves the boys needing new homes.

I've decided to just do a free to good home route with them, but they don't come with the perks of the $70 adoption fee.  So if you want one of the boys let me know!

1 Down 3 To Go!

Helen was adopted!  Helen has a nice home now where she is currently the only baby in the house.  I saw her a couple days after she left and she didn't want to leave her new momma to come to me!  It was sad and happy all at the same time.  I'm so glad that she loves them so much!

As far as the others they are growing so fast!  We have discovered that Miss Purdy LOVES baths!  Yup, you read that right!  I was bathing my 2 kids and se was under foot as always.  She was trying to get in the tub so I said FINE!  I had the kids scoot away and put her in.  And she stayed in there purring and licking the water for over 5 minutes!  We were all in shock!  So apparently Purdy is a water loving cat who loves to ride on your shoulder like a parrot.  :)  Oh and she loves big calm dogs!  She was cuddling with our English Mastiff the other night.

Gnomeo is the ring leader for all the running around and attacking things.  He can kick Simba's booty all over the house.  And he chases the dogs around too.

Simba is just Simba.  He's a sweetie that loves to run and jump, but loves to cuddle and purr too!

Adoption Info

Ok, I have decided on the adoption fee finally!

$70- the kitten will be spayed or neutered and first set of shots.  I had to shop around which is why it took me so long to come up with an amount.

If you're interested in adopting one of the kittens email Miranda@BigDogSupps.com and include the following:

Your Name:
Which Kitten You're Interested In:
How Many Pets You Currently Have And What They Are:
Your Vet (If You Don't Have Pets This Is Not An Issue):
Children's Ages In The House:
Why You Want To Adopt (This Doesn't Have To Be Long):

I am very sad to see these kittens go, but I know they each deserve loving homes of their own.

Thank you!

Vet Visit

So I took the kittens to the vet this morning and GREAT news!!!

Simba has the all clear!  So long as there's no gunk coming out of his eyes and they don't get red again he is done with all the meds!!!!  Woot Woot!!!!!!

Gnomeo will not need stitches again as of now.  The hole is closing up on it's own and the vet would rather not put Gnomeo through that and neither would I!  His other eye is doing great and no longer needs meds!

Purdy has the 1/2 clear.  Her right eye no longer needs meds and has been confirmed by the vet as useless. It will stay in there unless it gets infected and poses trouble.  Her other eye still needs meds to stay moist on one part where the eye lid is actually attached to the eyeball!  The vet thinks this could be a birth defect and be why the kittens got the virus so bad in the first place!

Helen also has the 1/2 clear.  Her left eye no longer needs meds and should be just fine.  The right eye is like Purdy's left.  Attached eye lid.  It's a creepy looking thing too!!!

All in all I'm very pleased with the kittens progress as is the vet!!!

For those of you who came out to the bake sale you probably saw the kittens running around.  Some people made comments about them not being blind.  When I got the kittens they were pretty much blind.  We/I did not expect them to regain any sight at all let alone the amount that the did regain.  Simba's vision is normal, or close enough.  Purdy and Gnomeo have some (or a lot in Gnomeo's case) issues with depth perception, neither can see on one side of their body, but otherwise seem fine.  Helen is the worst.  She has one eye that is useless and the other is about 50%.  She tends to stay close to you or the wall and doesn't really like to run.  She runs more at the store then at home because there's bigger open spaces.  She does run into things at times but for the most part is learning to cope with her issues.  :)  I just felt like some people might have thought I was lying about their sight issues to get more money or something.  I am being as honest as I can and have no issues with people questioning where the money went.  So far $110 went to the vet today for the check up, 1/2 the surgery, and a tube of meds.  The rest will go to kitten food which I am almost out of, toys for the Mice Hunters, and the rest will be saved in case there's another vet visit.  I have spent my own money on the kittens, over $100 already, plus a $40 donation from Tiffany the first rescuer.  So I'm not in this to make money, believe me.  I am going to work on applications for adopting the Mice Hunters and there will be a fee that goes with them.  I haven't decided on the fee yet and it will depend on a couple things.  I will let you know as soon as I know though!  Thank you guys so so so much!!!!

THANK YOU!!!

Thank you to everyone who came out and donated to the kittens!!!  We raised $184!!!  That will cover the $75 for the 2nd payment of Gnomeo's surgery, the $17 I owe for the second thing of meds, and then hopefully whatever else has to happen to Gnomeo after the vet looks at him tomorrow.  :(

Gnomeo's eye seemed to be opened more on Saturday then it was on Friday.  I can't really tell today though.  It has a scab on it and besides the putting medicine on it I don't want to mess with it and open it even more.  So he goes BACK to the vet Monday.  *Sigh*  Poor little guy will have gone through so much in his life by the time he's 3 months old.

Other then that nothing else to report.  :)  I shall update tomorrow after another vet visit.

T Minus 12 Hours

There's less than 12 hours until the bake sale!  I'm really excited and a bit nervous!  What if a million people show up?  What if no one shows up?  What if I don't raise enough money to cover the vet bill?  Is Helen Keller of Troy going to have her eye removed as well?  What if, what if, what if????  Well either way the kittens will get the care they need!  No matter what I'll get these kittens what they need.

Ok, no more what if's!!!  We had a scare with Gnomeo last night!  When I got home from the night running around I do I went to see the Mice Hunters.  All of them attacked me as usual, except Gnomeo.  He was sitting in the doorway between my room and bathroom with his back to me.  I called him and he looked at me, and I saw it.  Blood.  First thought I can't publish on a attempted PG rated site, but it wasn't good.  After closer inspection it wasn't as bad as I first thought, but I still wasn't happy about it.  So this morning we took him back the the awesome vet and had Gnomeo looked at.  Luckily it was just a small cut/opening in his stitches that the vet didn't see the need to do anything to other than the normal keep clean and watch for infection.  :)

Helen is finally able to close her eye by herself!  She was not able to do this because her eye was too dry and infected.  This is really awesome because then she might not have to have the eye removed.  Only time will tell with that one.

Well I am off to get ready for the bake sale tomorrow!  Cake pops (I'm REALLY excited about these), homemade banana bread, cookies, lemon bars, fudge, brownies, and more!!!!  YUMMY!!!  I still have to make the signs for tomorrow and maybe, just maybe get up at 6 and make lemon meringue cookies!  Those take 2 hours to bake and 30 minutes prep and I need to be at Big Dog Supplements no later then 9:30!  Looks like another long day tomorrow!!!  Hope to see you at the bake sale!

Getting Ready

As the week flies by (like they all have been lately) we're getting ready for the bake sale!  There's going to be so many goodies!  I can't wait!!!!  As of now all 4 kittens will be there.  They are all doing so great and seem to be mostly normal little kittens.

Gnomeo is coping well with his one eye.  He no longer falls over and gets stuck on his back.  And he is starting to attack his brother more and more.  He has even tried taking on my Mastiff!!!  Of course my Mastiff is use to kitties and just lays there for the most part, or he gets up and walks away.  My Great Danes aren't allowed to play with the kitties because they are too rough just yet and don't realize their size.  I do have 2 tiny dogs that are allowed to play with the kittens and the kittens seem to like them.  So once they are ready to go to their new homes they'll be dog and cat friendly and kid friendly too!

Currently all four Mice Hunters are sitting at the base of my couch crying to "Daddy" that they aren't getting enough love.  I think this is because he's eating.  :)  Well I'm off to clean litter boxes and make them some more food.  Thanks for reading and hope to see you on Saturday!
